French property for Sale & France
There are thousands of sites offering French property for sale. The best ones provide a large selection, covering all regions of France, with sophisticated search engines to help you find a property that meets your specific criteria. In addition, some of them have automatic EMAIL notifications, to let you know when new properties are added which meet your specified criteria.
Ideally, the site should also provide you with useful information (e.g. converters, maps, weather information) and guidance (e.g. tax and legal implications). A discussion forum where you can post your comments and questions is also a bonus.
One of the sites which provides all of this is French Property for Sale & France. Although this site is young and consequently weak in some areas (it’s discussion board is still fairly small, as of 2006), in other areas it is exceptional:
- It has a broad range of maps (over 100 different free maps), including thematic maps showing tourist attractions, resorts, weather and other items of interest. This is possibly the largest and best collection of such maps on-line.
- It has a section on French food and recipes. What makes this special is that most of the recipes are also discussed from a cultural and historical perspective. Many of them also have notes on how to vary the recipe based on personal preferences.
- The newsletter, while quirky and eccentric, is both informative and often interesting.
They also have a set of Yellow-Pages, which at the time of writing is unusual.
